Assembly tomorrow!!!  Please join us for all the fun and shenanigans Room 6 can provide 🙂

Balga Primary School P&C

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our new members who joined up with us at today’s P&C meeting.  Brittney, Faye and Geoff, we are so very grateful for your time and commitment and we look forward to working together to raise some much needed funds and community involvement for our beautiful school.

We are still in need of more members so if you have some time to spare, no matter how little, please visit our office staff to complete a P&C Membership Application Form.

The P&C will be cooking up a storm with a sausage sizzle and drinks stall at the upcoming State Election on Saturday 13 March and we’re in need of some lovely volunteers to help make the day a great success.  Please let us know if you have an hour or so to spare by emailing us at balga.ps@education.wa.edu.au.

Raffle tickets will be handed out to students to purchase next week for 50c each.  Each ticket gets you in the draw to win one of three exciting Easter Hampers.  Can we please ask all families to donate an Easter egg or bunny to contribute towards our hampers to make this fundraiser a great success.

At Balga Primary we are very fortunate to have a well-equipped science laboratory dedicated to teaching science. This facility provides an ideal environment for our children to investigate, experiment and develop their scientific inquiry skills in collaborative teams. The school has invested in the resources to deliver the Primary Connections Science Program across all year levels. This is an innovative program developed by the Australian Academy of Science, which links the teaching of science with the teaching of literacy. This program is complemented by a significant bank of resources that has been built up over the past six years to provide interesting hooks and make lessons engaging and relevant to childrens’ lives. These include digital microscopes, astronomy equipment and software, interactive quizzes such as Kahoot on the iPads and the creation of electronic books for children to demonstrate their knowledge in a multimodal way.

We offer a number of activities to stimulate interest and engagement in science throughout the year. These vary from year to year, but typically include:

  • Year 5 full day excursion to Scitech.
  • Incursions to complement the curriculum, such as Science Alive shows and Scitech Space Dome.
  • Annual stargazing community event.
  • Science Quest science competition at Dianella Secondary College.
  • Incursions from Australian Earth Science Education.
  • Visits to universities to experience campus life and various STEM activities.

Balga Primary School is pleased to announce an upgrade to our admin school communication services.  News, Events and Notices will now be sent via the School Star app.  This will not only save us valuable time and help reduce our school’s environmental impact, but it will also allow us to communicate in multiple languages to get essential information home to our valued family & community members.

Please select either of the below links to download the School Star app on your device.

** Please note: Only parents and community members can access content in this secure app and Seesaw will still be in use for Parent/Teacher communication.
