As part of the teaching and learning program, teachers integrate Aboriginal Perspectives across the curriculum to broaden and deepen students’ and teachers’ understanding of Aboriginal cultures and ways of being. There is a focus on reconciliation, social justice and equality.
At Balga Primary School we use the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework to support staff to incorporate the cultural standards into our school leadership, planning, curriculum and teaching to make their practices more responsive to the needs of Aboriginal students.
The framework is about creating a whole-school environment that supports Aboriginal students and Aboriginal perspectives.
All staff use the framework as a reflective to tool to ensure that all of our school initiatives incorporate culturally responsive behaviours, attitudes and values into our everyday work.
